MPP Sattler calls out Ford for multi-billion-dollar loss in revenue for colleges and universities

QUEEN’S PARK- MPP Peggy Sattler, NDP critic for Colleges and Universities called for an urgent increase in funding for Ontario’s colleges and universities that are struggling to stay afloat.

“Students, workers, our economy, and our communities thrive when our post-secondary sector is strong,” said Sattler. “This government’s failure to ensure the financial stability of Ontario’s post-secondary sector is putting our province’s future at risk.

“Almost half of Ontario universities are facing deficits this coming year, totalling more than $300 million. Colleges and universities are bracing for a multi-billion-dollar revenue loss because of changes to international study permits.

“Does this government understand what is at stake when it refuses to properly fund our postsecondary system?”
